TIL: Instagram Reverse Chronological Following Feed Exists!

Thanks to someone's post on Bluesky, today I learned that the reverse chronological following feed is hiding in plain sight on Instagram:

Simply tap on the Instagram wordmark at the top to show a drop-down menu to choose either your following or favorites feed. I didn't look at favorites because I don't think I have any set up currently, but the following feed is shown in reverse chronological order, as far as I can tell, hallelujah!

A long time ago, I had set up a second IG account specifically for fountain pen-related accounts I wanted to follow, since my main account got so jumbled with all the accounts I was following. I was annoyed I could not make groups of accounts to better see different categories of posters separately – people I knew, artists, fountain pen and stationery stuff, etc. And when I started using my second fountain pen-centric account, the timeline got muddied anyway with the typical ads, suggested reels, and all the other stuff IG wants to peddle. 🙄 It was still better for seeing fountain pen posts, but it wasn't just a simple feed of posts from people I was following.

This menu discovery is going to help a lot (even though I wish it could be the default view)! I'm glad I stumbled across the Bluesky post when I did.
