Decided to mess around with a longer Nikon lens on the Pentax Q10, choosing to adapt my Nikon 28-105mm with macro focusing:

Yes, this lens and camera combo is truly ridiculous-looking, but I don't care! (the red wriststrap is from my Polaroid Go) The Q10 is actually floating, since the lens adapter is wider than the camera body and is sitting on its tripod mount. π
I'd seen a bird hanging out on a power line in view of our backyard, but by the time I got out there it was gone. π Luckily, later on I spotted a skittish little lizard hanging out on this wooden plank in the yard, but I had to wait for it to come back out of its hiding place, as I'd startled it before.
Given the Q10's 5.53x sensor crop factor, the Nikon ends up being a 154.8-580.65mm telephoto lens, which is quite hard to frame and stay still while handholding. But I just relied on the very fast shutter speeds in the strong sunlight, and multiple captures to hopefully capture a good, in-focus shot. The focus peaking on the Q10 is key. Not too shabby! I don't think I actually got the lizard's eye in focus, I'm happy with the overall shot.
