Close-up photo of a scrub jay, a bird with a blue crown and wings, and white chest and belly, standing on concrete

In the spring/summer we sometimes have scrub jays visit our yard. For a while we fed them peanuts, but had to stop doing so when they buried too many peanuts in the yard, attracting pests. ๐Ÿ˜• It was cute before then, though, because they would come by, perch on the pergola or some other yard furniture and squawk for us to come out and feed them. After a while we set a whole bowl of whole peanuts in the shell for them and they would actually sort through them to pick โ€œthe bestโ€ one. They were polite and put the โ€œlesserโ€ peanuts back in the bowl. ๐Ÿ˜†
