I took this picture after feeding my cats their 2nd meal of the day (1st dinner). Some backstory: Before now, for a couple weeks, I've been struggling to get Pixel to eat full meals after his surgery. I had a sneaking suspicion that the formula for their current food had changed, because I could feel a difference as I broke apart the larger cubes into bite-sized nuggets. And both of the cats were unenthusiastic about meal time, even Sprite, who will eat just about anything.

When I stopped at the store to return a couple unopened bags of the food they didn't like, one of the staff who I talked to confirmed that the formula had been changed slightly, resulting in different texture. :smh: What terrible timing! Pixel was already not wanting to eat as much before his surgery thanks to his teeth and his chin hurting. And to top it off, he has antibiotics that have to be given with food. Trying to hide pills in his food was kinda nerve-wracking because I couldn't predict which parts of food he would eat before giving up (it wasn't always the food right in front of his dish). And giving him pills directly is a separate ordeal.

All of this has made taking care of him post-surgery really challenging and frustrating. I picked up an older brand of food that we used to feed the kitties, hoping they would like it better, and I just had the first fuss-free meal in a long time, with both kitties finishing their food, no problem. In this picture Pixel seems tuckered out, but finally satisfied after eating food he likes. I dearly hope that Pixel will eat well from now on and start gaining weight back. 🤞
