Wide angle view of a sundial at the Berkeley Botanical Garden that is labeled, "I only count the sunny hours"

A few years ago I went to the Berkeley Botanical Garden and brought an interesting Laowa lens, a 14mm wide angle zoom lens with macro capabilities. Usually when you're shooting macros, you cannot see much of the subject's environment, so you lose context. In many cases, that's what you want, to isolate the subject with such a magnified view. But with this wide zoom macro lens, you get to see a lot of the subject's surroundings which can make for a quirkier framing. Here you can even see my and my husband's shoes at the bottom of the frame. I haven't shot too many venues with this wide macro lens, but I should do more of that.
