Inkvent 2025 - Day 7

A couple really light inks and a familiar sheen and shimmer ink are in today's batch. I think the Slackvent selection tipped the scales in its favor.

Colorverse

This is a very bright, neon yellow-green, so named after the spacey topic of Little Green Men. 😀 Pretty amusing, though the stereotypical green of "little green men" is much darker, like more like an olive or camouflage green, in my mind. I immediately was reminded of a Diamine Inkvent ink from last year called Lemon & Lime (IIRC), which also had shimmer. But I think the base colors are essentially the same. Regardless, not really my jam – too light, wrong green.

Diamine

Blush is another very light, very translucent ink. And unfortunately, its shade, especially when it was wet, reminded me a bit of diluted blood, so this ink is not for me. A lot of red inks have a bloody look to me, which is why I don't like most red inks. Add in how illegible it is straight out of the bottle, makes it not for me.

Slackvent

This was kind of amusing, because yesterday's Colorverse swatch, Sungrazing Comet, is basically the same as Diamine Jack Frost, without the light blue shimmer. This came from, I think, the Inkvent right before I started buying Inkvent sets, the Blue set. Diamine Inkvent Green (my first set) has Arctic Blast, which I mentioned before was one of my favorites from the set because of its combo of blue ink, strong red sheen, and gold shimmer. It gave me very 1990s vibes (or maybe 80s) at the time. Note: Arctic Blast looks similar to Van Dieman's Azure Kingfisher, though I think Van Dieman's has a lot more gold shimmer. With Jack Frost's blue shimmer, it's a bit more laid-back than Arctic Blast.

As with Sungrazing Comet, because I'm not huge on sheen or shimmer at the moment, its subtlety is appealing, so if I inked up a shimmer for December, Jack Frost would be a chill (pun kind of intended) choice. 😀

What say you about today's lighter inks, or the sheen and shimmer? What are your feelings on red or pink inks? Comment below, or discuss on Mastodon, or Bluesky.
