Inkvent 2025 - Day 2
Late last night around 1-ish I swatched my 3 inks and was pleasantly surprised by this day's batch. Since yesterday had a couple reds and a shimmery teal, I wasn't that interested in putting any in a pen, but for today's batch, I'm at least interested in one ink to use sooner rather than later.

From left to right: Colorverse Apollon, Diamine Energy, and Colorverse New Mexico: White Sands (oops, just noticed I forgot to write the day numbers in the 2nd and 3rd swatches)
From these, can you guess which one I'm interested in using most? 🙂
Regular readers might be able to guess that the New Mexico White Sands ink intrigued me the most, since it's a weird taupe-y brown, with a hint of an orangey haloing or shading (not really a sheen) where the ink was more heavily concentrated. It really does remind me of desert sands. When I was swatching it, I was worried that it would be too light to be legible in regular writing, but the writing sample looks fine. I will be interested to see this from a pen.
My second favorite ink in the batch is Apollon. It's a nice orangey-yellow, sunshiny, and quite legible from the jump. It looks like it'd be a nice counterpoint to the more subdued colors in my currently inked pens.
Diamine Energy is a weird sheener. Luckily the scan kind of illustrates the weirdness: There is a typical green sheen, but it's muted, and almost seems like there's a secondary layer of sheen, like a gray or silver sheen over everything. At least, that's how it looked in poor indoor lighting last night. When I was slowly filling in the rectangle with the brush nib, that haze made me think that somehow they made an ink with a silver or gray sheen, in which case I would've been more impressed and more interested in using the ink in a pen. But I looked more closely and saw the actual green sheen.

This morning I took a picture of the swatch in direct but diffuse sunlight and saw that the silvery/gray haze I saw last night wasn't really there. But the "slime green" sheen was still less bright and in your face compared to other inks with green sheen. So perhaps the subdued sheen is what gave the hazy impression last night and in the scan.
Which one(s) do you like best from today? How do you feel about sheening or odd-colored inks? Hit me up here, or catch me on Mastodon or Bluesky.
