Inkvent 2025 - Day 11

It's a batch of different blue inks across the 3 sets today, all of them looking pretty good, but I have a clear favorite here.

Swatches

Colorverse

This translucent chromoshader is a pleasant surprise. I was kind of disappointed looking at the ink in the bottle, because I'm not generally a fan of bright, aqua blues. The yellow (and green?) chromoshading totally changes the ink, adding interest and depth. Apparently in last year's Colorvent, there was another multishader called White Hole, so I guess this continues the theme. I wonder if anyone's willing to part with their bottle of White Hole (and Da Vinci Glow and Sailing Stones)? 🤔

Diamine

"Brrr!" is a fun ink name. Even the label is in a different font to single it out. 🙂 This is a pigment shimmer ink, which I thought they might do. I'm still quite wary of pigment inks in general because of how much harder they can be to clean out of pens. I tend to have lots of pens inked up at the same time, so it would be more than likely that if I put a pigment or pigment shimmer ink into one of my pens, it could dry out and become rather difficult to clean. I would probably use my Sailor Hocoros or the Fonte "glass" dip pen to write with Brrr!, should I want to write with it, to be on the safe side.

Regardless, this dusky denim blue with light blue shimmer looks decent. And it's totally doable to fill a pen without (or very little of) the shimmer if you want. As with the other pigment ink in the set, it felt very smooth as I swatched it and wrote out its label. I noticed that the swatches have spread patterns that mimic frost on a window. What a fun coincidence. 🙂

Slackvent

Some of you may know I already have Sailor Shikiori Yuki-Usagi in my collection, but I love it so much that I don't mind having another sample bottle's worth. 😀 I've been holding off on buying another bottle since I'm not yet close to finishing my first bottle. But I'm so scared Sailor will discontinue it soon (even though it's one of the more recent releases this year), that I feel the need to hoard at least a couple bottles... 😅

The blue, gray, and brown chromoshading is so unique and appealing to my preferences that I'm not sure I could find any dupes for it, should the ink go away. But here's hoping other manufacturers try!

So what do y'all think of today's blues? Let's chat here, on Mastodon, or Bluesky.

Thanks for reading. If you like what I write and want to support me, you can buy me a coffee...or ink sample! 🙂 I'd appreciate it.
