"Ink-vent" Ink Sample Stands

Diamine Inkvent, and now Colorverse Colorvent, are fun Advent calendars for fountain pen enthusiasts to have. Swatching a surprise ink every day in December is a nice treat! I've bought the Diamine Inkvent set for the last 4 years (it's kind of getting out of hand, ballooning my ink library so much... πŸ˜…), and have been lucky to get bespoke 3D printed stands for the ink bottles designed by my husband.

But not everyone goes for these "ink-vent" calendars for various reasons – price (a big factor), the fact that all inks are from a single brand, perhaps they're not into the colors or ink types that each set historically had, etc.

Alternatively, people roll their own ink-vents using ink samples, like doing a swap with pen friends, which is its own joyful activity! Some swaps do 12 ("12 days of Christmas"), or a full 25 for the month (and probably some variations in between). I'm sure this has been going on well before Diamine came out with their first Inkvent calendar.

We've been thinking about designing stands for ink sample vials, and finally have a couple designs sussed out.

For a 12-ink swap, we have a lovely snowflake stand that's nice and compact:

(printed with a rainbow gradient filament that happened to be in the yellow and orange part πŸ™‚)

For a full month of ink samples, there's a reworked version of the original Inkvent tree, seen below in a couple different filaments (the left stand is mine for this year; the green one is available for sale!):

Of course, like the original Inkvent tree, this has a swivel base, or you can choose a non-swivel base for simplicity.

Also in the works is a reimagining of the 12-sample snowflake stand as a full 25-sample tree. ❄️

Things are busy, naturally, so the 3D model files for the ink sample stands aren't yet up on Cults3D, but they will be...eventually. πŸ˜… (I'll keep nudging Hubby to update his page.) In the meantime, please reach out if you're interested in these stands. You can comment here, or catch me on Mastodon or Bluesky. I can't guarantee I'll be able to print out one of these and ship to arrive before December 1, but let's chat!

Thanks for reading. If you like what I write and want to support me, you can buy me a coffee...or tea! I'd appreciate it.
