Ink Swatch Wednesday: Colorverse Arrokoth, featuring Pelikan M600 Art Glauco Cambon

Because I am me, I couldn't stay away from highlighting another brown ink. 😆 Today it's Colorverse Arrokoth, a kind of chocolate-milky brown to my eyes. I got a cute little bottle of it from my fountain pen Secret Santa last December, thanks!

Apparently this ink was part of a limited edition Colorverse New Horizons set commemorating NASA's New Horizons spacecraft which explored Pluto and its moons, as well as Arrokoth (2014 MU69), the most distant object explored by a spacecraft, according to NASA's site about it.

I found a post on Well-Appointed Desk showing off all the colors in the set and comparable inks, in addition to talking about NASA and New Horizons' explorations. I highly recommend checking it out as the comparison inks are a good set to explore if you like these colors.

If I'd gotten this set, I would like the purple and brown inks the most, with the olive green next, and the dark blue-black last, mainly because it's quite a dark blue-black that would be hard to distinguish from black a lot of the times, it seems.

Anyway, Arrokoth is a milk-chocolaty, hot chocolate, kind of creamy brown which fits in well with my current vibe of pale, muted, dusky colors for spring.

I happened to also swatch this ink on Iroful paper back when I got it because I accidentally pulled out a sheet of Iroful thinking it was my Tomoe River S. 😅 On Iroful it's cooler and more beige. Having this ink lessens my FOMO about Kobe's limited edition Milk Chocolate ink.

Surprisingly, though I have several brown inks in my library, I don't have too many that are similar as far as the reddish, warm, chocolaty tones in Arrokoth. My brown inks veer more towards darker coffee shades, and a few cooler browns. I did get a sample of Anderillium Tolype Moth Warm ink from last year's Slackvent ink swap that is in the same ballpark:

Darker, but still warm and reddish brown ink swatch labeled "Anderillium Tolype Moth Warm; Pen Addict Slack Inkvent Day 4"

It's much more saturated, but has the warm and reddish-brown shades of Arrokoth to my eye. I have yet to use this in a pen.

The other ink I picked from my library is Dominant Industry Lungo, a more coffee brown that has a less reddish cast, but is still a warm-ish brown.

I happen to have Colorverse Arrokoth in my Pelikan M600 Art Glauco Cambon right now, which is not a match for the pen body whatsoever, but I don't always match inks to my pens.

I have an EF nib for this pen, but it's a western EF, so it's still plenty broad to show off the ink's color and shading.

Writing sample using the brown fountain pen ink: "Pelikan M600, EF; Colorverse Arrokoth; test figure-8s and lines; 'reverse writing' written with the reverse side of the nib; The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog";

And for fun I drew a couple pretty basic doodles.

On left, a doodle of a cup of coffee or hot chocolate with steam lines rising from the cup; on right squiggly doodles of two different flowers in grass

Since there was nice, bright sun today, I decided to record a short video showing the etched design on the pen barrel. I'm lucky I was able to take advantage of Atlas Stationers incredible deal on this pen. It's a striking addition to my collection.

Thanks again to my Secret Santa! They picked a great brown ink for my ink library. #MoarBrownInks 😀
