Fountain Pen Quickie: Sailor TUZU Adjust Disassembled
A little while back I asked whether the nib on the Sailor TUZU Adjust could be pulled off the feed like Lamy nibs, since they have similar construction. I had tried to pull the nib but it wouldn't budge. I didn't want to break the pen, hence my question to the Pen Addict Slack. No one seemed to have any feedback, so today I decided to try again.
I held the section with my grippy material (foam-ish, squishy drawer liner material), and the nib with another piece of grippy material and the feed came out of the housing, but the nib still wouldn't budge.

While I would've liked to remove the nib to clean where it meets the feed, this is fine, because it finally allowed me to clean the shimmer that had accumulated at the top of the grip section and the corresponding part of the feed. When reassembling, put the feed into the housing and rotate it around until it drops further into the housing (it is "keyed" to be put together only one way) and push to secure the feed.
The nib looks really securely crimped onto the feed, but it's possible with a little more finagling it could be separated. But it's not a big deal; I was able to clean out the shimmer as well as could be expected.
In case you were wondering whether the TUZU Adjust could be disassembled for cleaning, hopefully this was helpful.
