Fountain Pen Day 2024: Currently Inked

Happy Fountain Pen Day! I hope you had time to play around with your fountain pen and ink collection and enjoy them thoroughly. I didn't do too much today, mainly cleaned out a bunch of pens whose ink levels were basically empty (or I was impatient to try a different ink, so I dumped out the little ink that was left) and refilled a few. Surprisingly I left a few pens uninked, so my batch of pens is a bit smaller than last month's currently inked, 20 instead of 24. πŸ˜…

I refilled 6 pens, and 5 of the 6 have new inks that I haven't or barely used:

  • Kakimori Mukuri, my first time using their pigment ink
  • Papier Plume Bayou Nightfall, new ink sample
  • The Wet Pen Blackberry, used briefly once before
  • Robert Oster Grey Seas, new ink sample
  • Dominant Industry Winter Wood, new ink bottle purchased a while ago

And the last ink was Sailor Shikiori Rikyucha which is a favorite I've used many times. All of the other pens and inks carried over from last month.

Scan of a Hobonichi planner cover page for November, used for a list of currently inked pens. A small hand-drawn rectangular "ink swatch" preceeds the name of the pen, nib details, and ink details. List items start with brown inks, then a few green-browns, some bluish colors, purples, berries, and finally a lone gray pen-ink combo.
I like to order my pens by color. It makes it easier to see what colors are most popular, like all the browns I'm using. I just can't seem to move on to other colors right now!

We'll see if I can keep the batch down to this number. Usually once I've created my "currently inked" for the month, I almost immediately end up finding some reason to change it up. 😝

My current collection leans toward bigger fountain pen brands, but I have a few independent maker pens sprinkled in. Someday I'll add more indie pens and more speciality ones, like urushi.

Oh, I also ended up making a small order at Endless Pens because they had the vintage Pelikan P20 Twists that I'd seen before and missed picking up. I also got more brown inks. πŸ˜…

Pretty chill Fountain Pen Day for me. What all did you do to mark the occasion?
